Garatoni Cellars

Founded by Larry Garatoni, Garatoni Wines are a natural extension of his Italian heritage. The Garatoni family traces its roots back to Roman times, when his earliest ancestors were farmers, sheepherders, and (of course) winemakers near Santarcangelo di Romagna (Italy’s famed Emilia Romagna region).

“Eat well, drink even better!” is the Italian motto, and nowhere is this more true than in Santarcangelo. Close to the breathtakingly charming coastal town of Rimini on the Adriatic Sea, Santarcangelo is located in one of the most scenic parts of Northern Italy. Perhaps best known for the nearby DOC Lambrusco di Sobrara wine region, the area around Santarcangelo is known for sparkling Lambrusco, a delightful fruity white wine (the DOCG Albana), plus the lush Trebbiano reds. These bright white and hearty red wines provide a perfect counterpoint to regional cuisine that includes spaghetti, pizza, tomatoes, olive oil, espresso coffee and cappuccino -- all dishes that Americans think of as “classic” Italian. So great wine -- and hearty foods -- is infused in the Garatoni bloodline.
